My work in science has taken me all over the world, researching coral reefs in the Caribbean, Indonesia, and Australia, kelp forests in California and Chile, oceanographic expeditions in the Atlantic, and deep-water coral communities in Mexico. My current role is to work with the people of Alaska to understand how we can increase mariculture (ocean farming) in a way that is sustainable and healthy for the environment and coastal communities.
